Your guide to Labor Day traffic and weather
Saturday evening showers will clear the way for a beautiful Labor Day weekend.
Sunday will be sunny and 86, while Monday, Labor Day, will be sunny and 84, perfect weather for a barbecue, a journey out to the Hamptons, or one last trip to the beach.
In order to help you get a jump on your weekend, the Long Island Railroad is providing eight additional eastbound trains from Penn Station on Friday.
Don't expect high gas prices to keep drivers off of the roads this weekend, though.
According to AAA, requests for maps of the area, compared to this time last year, is 4.5% higher for the metro New York region.
Nationally, 1.1 percent fewer travelers are expected to travel by car this Labor Day compared with last year's holiday weekend, AAA said. Fewer will be taking to the skies as well, with 4.5 percent fewer planning to fly than a year ago.
