Man stable after stabbing in Midtown
43-year-old man was in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital Thursday night after being stabbed on the corner of 28th Street and Broadway.
Police said it was shortly before 2 p.m. when someone stabbed the unidentified man, who was illegally selling cigarettes, in what may have been an attempted robbery near the entrance to the R/W train station. It wasn't clear how many attackers there were, police said. The victim ran into the subway station, according to a transit official. It was also unclear whether his attackers fled into the subway as well.
Southbound trains bypassed the station from between 1:25 p.m. and 3:23 p.m. while police investigated.
